The essay talks about how free trade has been facilitating and will definitely in future help nations come even closer and get the concept of globalization into practice. However, the analysis in various topics of the essay, particularly those relating to trade restrictions and regional trade blocks indicate that at the same time when there are immeasurable benefits from free trade between countries, there are still nations, both developed and developing, which are moving a lot towards trade restrictions. Reasons for this could be justified to some extent, as there are lots of infant industries, which need protection. There are a number of anti-dumping measures, which have also been adopted by various nations to put a stop to the hazardous effects of dumping. However, as mentioned in topic 6.7 there are certain ill effects of such trade restrictions, which cannot be ignored and have to be taken to task. Such is the role of the WTO/GATT, which is an international body taking care of all the matters concerning trade all around the world.
