Summary: Religions pluralism refers to the existence of many different religions together with acceptance of one another. Historically, religious pluralism did not have a place among the religions in the United States, and “Americans have not always promoted religious pluralism as an ideal” (Religious Pluralism, n.d.). Although many settlers to America came in search of religious freedom and were attempting to escape religious persecution, “after arriving, they often created communities of religious intolerance” (Sullivan, 2007, p 345).
